Week of October 5 Training

Sunday, October 5 - took day off to spend time with family

Monday, October 6 - travelled to Talahassee, FL for a meeting with the Florida Department of Transportation.  Got in a short run and weight session before I left.  4 miles running, 30 minutes weights.

Tuesday, October 7 - ran 4 miles on the treadmill at Gold's Gym (7:30 - 6:00 pace), and then lifted for 30 minutes (chest, shoulders).  On my way to the airport in the afternoon, I ran 4 miles on a trail on the south side of Talahassee - 6:36 pace for the 4 miles.

Wednesday, October 8  - Biked 15.5 miles on my Cervelo P2SL - very windy, but felt good.  First time on the bike in a long time, and my knee troubles seemed noticably better on the bike.  I also lifted weights (arms 30 minutes) in the evening.

I've had a rather busy past couple of months.  Lots of travel!  Starting on July 10 since I switched jobs back to PPI, I've been to the following places:

  • Gainesville, Florida
  • Denver, Colorado
  • Crested Butte, Colorado
  • Budapest, Hungary
  • Chicago, IL
  • Portland, ME
  • Dallas, TX
  • Raleigh, NC
  • Tallahassee, FL
  • Asheville, NC
  • Grand Rapids, MI
  • Atlanta, GA
  • San Francisco, CA
  • Brainerd, MN (3 times)

Fortunately, I've been able to run in pretty much every city I've gone!  So, that's been fun. The best spots to run so far have been Budapest and San Francisco.  But I also had a great run in Atlanta with my friend, Tim Lieuwen.  Tallahassee is also a good city for running, as there is a nice trail on the south side of the city that I typically run on my way to the airport.  This year, I was short on time, but managed a quick 4 miles at a 6:36 pace. Crested Butte was also a great city, but I didn't have much time to get in a run there.

Week of September 28

This week was a decent week of training, although I was busy with work and travel.  I had to preach at Crossroads Church in Pequot Lakes on the 28th.  It went well, as I spoke on Creation and the marvels of our Created Universe.  We worship a mighty God who made an exquisite universe, and I am humbled at his marvelous works.  The 29th was my birthday, so I went for a nice run. I got in 13 miles at a comfortable 7:27 pace.  It was a good day.  I had a School Board meeting at night.

On October 2, I went for a 12-mile run around Green Lake.  I was a bit behind schedule, so that forced me to pick up the pace.  I managed a 6:52 pace around the lake, which felt OK.

I've been taking some time off the bike as my knee has been bothering me lately.

I had a couple decent swims and weight training sessions as well.
