There are many questions you may have while considering to enter the student triathlon. Post your questions here and we will try to answer them as soon as possible. If you need further assistance contact Tim Miller: timm@willmar.com or 320-905-1010
Q: When is the registration deadline?
A: There is no deadline, however there are limited positions available. Register as soon as you can. When you are registered (form is available on this site), you will receive further information by mail.
The following were some questions presented through an email I recieved along with their answers.
1. Is the running part on a treadmill or on the track? The running and biking are actually on courses laid out on local Willmar streets â we have worked with the City of Willmar in planning out a route â it will be blocked off and/or guarded at crossings by a combination of Willmar police and race volunteers.
2. Is there time to change after the swimming event or do the participants run directly from one event to the next? Just outside the pool there will be a transition area with boy and girl changing tents included. After the swim the athletes will go into their tents and change. There will be race attendants in the tents, but parents are encouraged to help their child if they wish. The athleteâs change of clothes, bike helmet, etc will be placed prior to race time in a paper bag with the athletes name on it. It will be placed in the transition area in rows for easy access.
3. Are the girls and boys competing separately? Yes. They will race at the same time, but will be placed seperately â if she wins her age group as a girl, she will win a medal and an iPod Nano
She is looking forward to the event - and so am I! Is there going to be room for parents to watch the event? Yes. The whole start/finish/transition area is a good place to be. There will also be plenty of space along the race paths. The swimming area may be a little more congested, but we will try our best to accommodate everyone.

Question: When is registration deadline?
Request for clarification - if three students wanted to compete as a team, one could do the running, one the swimming and one the biking?
Thanks.
Answer - yes they can.

are bikes provided for the atheletes to use, or do they bring their own?
A: Bikes are the responsibility of the competitor. Also remember to bring a helmet - athletes can not compete without one.
What will the courses look like for the bike and the run? thanks.
A: 5-8, 9-12 Bike: You leave the pool area via the back door by the pool. There is a transition area with a boy and girl changing tent. Upon exiting the tent area you will go to your bike, which will be placed on the access road (back side of YMCA). You will exit the YMCA property via Olena, turning right. You will take Olena to Lakeland, turn right. Take Lakeland to Willmar Ave, turn left. You will then take Willmar Ave to 23rd street, turn left. You take 23rd street all the way to the Holiday in parking lot, where you turn around and return to the YMCA via the same route. 5-8 will take the course once, 9-12 will take the course twice. The course will be labeled. For 9-12, the first time through they will turn in on the first parking lot entrance - this, too, will be labeled.
5-8,9-12 Run: After dropping your bike off in the transition area you will leave the property by way of Olena, turning left. You take Olena to 9th, turn left, go to Willmar Ave, turn left, to Lakeland, turn left, turn into the YMCA parking lot, curving to the left until you go through the finish line. The course will be labeled. 5-8 takes the course once, 9-12 takes the course twice.
I hope that helps. I promise, come race day, it will be very clear where to go.
Is it too late to sign up for the triathlon? Or are all of the spots taken already?
A: Positions are limited, but you can sign up right until race time. If spots fill up, I will let you know as soon as I can.
I also am looking for the course information. Where is the blog? I must be looking in the wrong spot.
Thanks!
